Daniel (Dan) Graeter is a Senior Manager with 25 years of experience with solid waste planning, recycling programs, education outreach, facility operations, financial management, and solid waste systems. Dan has worked in private industry for 9 years and for the public sector for 16 years in various capacities of solid waste management. Dan’s recent experience has focused on solid waste facility operations, district planning and program development, and financial system development. Dan has extensive experience in financial administration and is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive). He is a graduate of Wright State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy and a Master’s in Business Administration.
Dan began his career as a regional financial controller with Allied Waste in Western Ohio. He later served as Operations Manager and General Manager of Allied Waste in Western Ohio managing a landfill and two hauling operations. At Allied Waste, he implemented safety programs, sales initiatives, municipal collection bids, and operational efficiency programs. After leaving Allied Waste, he worked for Montgomery County Solid Waste District for 16 years managing scale operations, fleet and transfer operations, the reuse facility, solid waste district planning, and the Environmental Learning Center. His solid waste responsibilities included scale system operations and design, design and development of the Environmental Learning Center, transfer station operations and design, and development of community recycling and cleanup programs.
Dan was President of the Buckeye Chapter of the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) from 2008 – 2010. Dan is SWANA certified in Zero Waste Principles and Practices, Transfer Stations, Landfill Operations, Recycling Systems, and Construction and Demolition Debris (C & D) Recycling. Dan organized the first SWANA Buckeye Chapter Equipment Rodeo competition in 2007 and has organized multiple regional conferences partnering with the Indiana and Kentucky chapters of SWANA. Dan was President of the Organization of Solid Waste Districts of Ohio (OSWDO) from 2014-2016.
